In our near-half century existence, the prom tux rental has remained a season all in itself. Coinciding with Spring weddings while the Florida heat is still semi-tolerable, the months of February through May prove to be on par with the Fall for our first busy season of the year. And while some other regions of the country go more casual for Homecoming, high school kids here in Tampa Bay step it up a notch with a more formal-leaning approach. Matching colors with their dates, keeping current with fashion trends, and offering options aesthetically classic enough to get mom to pay are the keys to finding success as a tuxedo store in the two most crucial business seasons in the industry.
For the most part, the base elements of formalwear see little change year to year:
The notch, shawl, and peak lapel coats remain standard.

Certain elements may come in & out of trend - lapel width, shirt style, etc - but they generally stay within an acceptable deviation that reduces the need for a stock overhaul. Our greatest challenge to navigate is the trends in the fit itself.
Every time we watch a star professional athlete show up to a press conference wearing a ridiculous fit that sets the standard for what’s “in”, we release an exasperated sigh and stare at the ceiling for 30 straight seconds, because here it comes.
Remember when Cam Newton started wearing dress pants tapered all the way to the ankle? Because we sure as hell do.
